Ms. Ana Canek has been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) since 1996 and joined Houston Community College in 2000. She earned her Master of Arts in Psychology from Houston Baptist University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas-Houston.

Tavia James holds a Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling with an emphasis in Ethnic Minorities from Southern University and A&M College. During her academic work, she was awarded the Rehabilitation Services Administration Scholarship and inducted in Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society.
Ms. James is a Texas State Board Licensed Professional Counselor. She also is an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing trained therapist. In 2011. Ms. James began her journey working in the counseling field. She has clinical experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, and families with diverse backgrounds and ranges of concerns. Ms. James has extensive working knowledge of federal and state disability-related laws. She specializes in strategies and support building to address chronic, persistent mental illness, disability issues, and trauma. Ms. James strives to bring mental health awareness to the HCC campus and its surrounding communities.

Mrs. Chandra A. Harrison is a VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) Counselor from the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), assigned to Houston Community College. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Prairie View A&M University and Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Southern University. She has over 22 years of experience in working in the vocational rehabilitation field with Veterans.
