Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
MOUs with Community-Based Services for Domestic Violence, Dating Violence and Sexual Assault Survivors
Domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault are major public health problems that profoundly impact Houston residents. As a result of the violence, victims/survivors often experience long-term physical and mental health problems, reproductive problems, unemployment, dislocation, isolation, homelessness, and poverty.
The Houston region has several independent community-based non-profit organizations with programs dedicated to providing advocacy and support to adult and child survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault. These programs use a mix of evidence-based and promising practices to provide a broad spectrum of services. Services include, in part, crisis intervention, safety planning, specialized domestic violence shelter and transitional housing, specialized counseling and medical exams for sexual assault victims, assistance to survivors with finding housing and employment, and legal advocacy. They also include support groups, community education, individual advocacy, and support services for children, parents and youth. Each individual organization has multiple connections to other organizations and programs both within the domestic violence and sexual assault fields, and in other related fields. Furthermore, there are several state statutes and standards that provide guidelines and protections to community-based advocacy programs and to the people they serve.
Houston Community College is proud to partner with the following three (3) community based domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault organizations serving survivors in the Houston region and has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with each organization to support our entire HCC community.

The scope of our partnerships vary but they all share the same goal, they are all deeply committed and dedicated to serving child and adult survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault. HCC has made a valuable long-term investment in a strong and diverse community-based service system for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault. Our partnerships with these organizations serve to support our entire HCC community and meet the increased needs for intervention and prevention services. By partnering with these organizations, HCC is able to expand its resources, leadership, and expertise, promote awareness and prevention efforts to end domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault, and it also formalizes our commitment to work together to provide trauma informed services to student and employee victims of domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault.
To access services provided by any of the three organizations, contact them directly at the numbers listed above. If you are student, you may also speak with a counselor and they will be able to connect you with one of the organizations.
